Situated squarely between North and South America, Costa Rica is one of the most biodiverse countries in the world. It is also a global leader in conservation innovation and climate response. A strong democracy, friendly people and stunning scenery make it an ideal travel destination.<\/span><\/p>\n

This Costa Rica Conservation Tour is designed to sample the best of natural Costa Rica by exploring one of Latin America\u2019s most important conservation projects. Launched in 2020, the Ridge to Reef Initiative<\/strong><\/a> is an effort to ensure habitat connectivity from the mountains of La Amistad National Park (Costa Rica\u2019s largest Park) to rainforests of the Osa Peninsula, the \u201cmost biologically intense place on Earth\u201d according to National Geographic, and home to jaguars, tapirs, anteaters, four species of monkeys and more than 300 species of birds.<\/p>\n

We\u2019ll stay at the beautiful Las Cruces Research Station and the stunning Osa Verde Biolodge during our eight-day expedition to southwest Costa Rica. Each facility offers lovely accommodations, excellent food and easy access to a variety of tropical habitats. Wildlife, including spectacular birdlife, is abundant and conspicuous. The trip is timed to coincide with passage of migratory birds returning to North America. We\u2019ll also be accompanied by one of Costa Rica\u2019s finest naturalist guides.<\/em><\/p>\n

The trip will be led by veteran tour leader and conservationist Craig Thompson.<\/p>\n
